ABOUT
Recently renovated in August 2022, Verdun Country House is situated just three minutes from the picturesque village of Franschhoek. Set in the winelands region of the Western Cape, it is surrounded by beautiful mountains and vineyards. Owned and managed by Ann Warsop, Verdun Country House is a luxury 5 bedroomed home, equipped with state of the art amenities - to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The house has solar panels and battery back-up, to eliminate the frustrations of Eskom load shedding. There are big, established oak trees which are home to resident (seasonal) owls and egyptian geese, whilst squirrels search for acorns and moles dig holes in the garden. Four horses graze in the paddocks, and two rescue dogs, Gracey and Daxie, run and play in the garden.

Verdun Country House is just three minutes from the centre of the Franschhoek village. Things to do include wine tastings, tram rides, museum visits, markets, Sunday church services, bicycle rides, cooking classes, visits to the cheetah sancturary - to mention but a few (see "things to do"). Cape Town itself is only one hour away, where one can explore shark diving, yacht trips, visits to the penguins, cable car up table mountain - and so much more.

Bedroom One - King size bed. Mountain and pool views with doors leading onto pool area and separate entrance via patio if needed. Luxury 300 thread count linen. En-suite bathroom with shower, freestanding bathtub, two vanity basin and an enclosed toilet.

Bedroom Two - Double Bed with pool view. Luxury 300 thread count linen. New en-suite bathroom (added in August 2022) with shower, toilet and vanity basin.

Bedroom Three - King size bed. Mountain and paddock views with doors leading onto patio with separate entrance if needed. New bathroom (added in August 2022) with shower, toilet and vanity basin.

Bedroom Four - Two three-quarter beds with 300 thread count linen. Doors leading onto garden and separate entrance via patio if needed. En-suite bathroom with shower, vanity unit and toilet.

Bedroom Five - Queen bed with 300 thread count linen. En-suite bathroom with shower, freestanding bathtub, vanity unit and toilet. Baby's crib in this room.

Honesty Bar / Self Catering

Self catering home, with semi-professional Smeg gas cooker. Franschhoek boasts some outstanding restaurants and chefs in the country and vouchers can be redeemed at certain restaurants. Honesty bar comprising wine, spirits and mixers. Bar fridge. Ice Making Machine.
Free Wifi/Netflix/Showmax/Playstation

Verdun Country House has two lounges, equipped with uncapped free Wifi, as well as Netflix, Showmax, DSTV and one lounge has a Playstation 4. A large collection of DVD's are available to view - something for everyone.
Bicycles / Garden

Take walks in our garden, meditate with the Franschhoek Mountains in the background. Enjoy the beautiful flowers, and nature of all seasons. A selection of bicycles including a Schwinn tandum is available.
Daily Housekeeping/Linen Change
A dedicated housekeeper can be arranged at an extra cost. There is a separate scullery and laundry comprising washing machine and tumble dryer, as well as a dishwasher.
Swimming Pool

Enjoy long summer days around a private swimming pool, with beautiful views of the mountains and garden. There is a jungle gym for children and a perfect entertainment area with barbecue facilities completes the picture.
Eccentricities

The master bedroom boasts Sir Winston Churchill's chesterfield sofa. Thirty sets of framed vintage cigarette trade cards displayed on kitchen walls. The Elephant, Giraffe and Springbok bedrooms are each themed as a tribute to these beautiful African animals.
